There have been substantial updates to Native Instruments’ Traktor Pro 3 DJ software in the past few months, and as Pioneer DJ’s Rekordbox DJ software continues to mature and grow in popularity, now seems like the perfect time to put these two DJ platforms head to head to see how they stack up against each other.
Hi All, I have Traktor running on 2 machines. An imac for home and Macbook for gigs. I play music through my itunes library and prepare all my tracks on the imac. I then export the playlist and import it into Traktor on my Macbook. Hey - I'm a Traktor novice. I'm trying to make manual loops (not snapped to grid) and having no luck. I'm running Traktor Pro 3 on a 13' MBP. I know there's issues with displaying IN/OUT - I mapped Decks and B in the Configuration manager so I can set loop in/out points with my keyboard so that's fine (though is there a way to map Decks C and D to the keyboard?).
- I'm looking to get some general info about importing/exporting playlists. I have Traktor installed on 2 different laptops. I was wondering how it was possible to export a playlist from COMP 1 and add it to COMP 2 while keeping all of the cue points, loops, etc in place that I've set up for the PL.
- Open the playlist/crate you want to export in Serato or Traktor. Select all tracks in the playlist/crate (Cmd + A) Drag and drop the selected tracks into the iTunes playlist. The playlist will automatically be synchronized to djay Pro. Note: djay Pro does not currently support importing cue points and beat grids stored in the ID3 tag.

I’m new to digital – what exactly are these apps?
Traktor is Native Instruments’ laptop DJ software, and Traktor Pro 3 is the current version. Doni bobes auto tune download. It’s one of the first digital DJ apps, launching back in 2000. It’s gone through several iterations since then, most of which were in step with DJ controllers that Native Instruments put out including the Traktor Kontrol S4, the jogwheel-less Traktor Kontrol S8 and the new Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk3 with Haptic Drive kinetic jogwheels.

Rekordbox is Pioneer DJ’s laptop DJ app. It started life as a music management software for exporting playlists to thumb drives for use with CDJ media players, but has grown to become a full-on digital DJing app thanks to the Rekordbox DJ add-on. Though other DJ apps like Traktor, Virtual DJ and Serato have had a big head start, Rekordbox is quickly catching up in terms of functionality and stability, and is a popular choice thanks to its compatibility with Pioneer DJ’s controllers, media players and all-in-one systems.
